Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This occasion offered a chance for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
