The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
