One 60-day cruise through Australia is being halted following the tragic passing of an older lady who was stranded by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the vessel, but separated from the excursion for a break. The vessel departed without her and went back later that day after the crew discovered the lady was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission found her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, in coordination with investigators and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous technical problems".

Via official communication, he mentioned that guests would be given a full refund, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also issued an latest communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Master" preventing any additional guests from boarding the vessel.

The official said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The liner originally sailed from the Australian port on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the point of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the opening port on the voyage.
